Will You Use Your Weapon

Would you ever consider entering into a battle without any way to defeat the enemy? The obvious answer to that is no. Then why do we, as followers of Christ, leave the weapon that God has given us behind? In Matthew 4, we see Jesus being tempted by the devil. Jesus has been fasting for 40 days and at the point when he is his weakest, Satan comes to tempt him. With everything that the devil tempts Jesus with, Jesus comes back with Scripture.

I don't know about you, but I am tempted sin (in one way or another) on a daily basis. And if I am honest, the times that I am able to resist the temptation are the times in my life that I am actively seeking God. Is this just a coincidence?

Paul says in Ephesians 6 that if we are going to stand against the devil's schemes that we need to put on the armor of God! And the way that we combat the devil is with the Word of God. It applies to our lives today! The writer of Hebrews says "For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires." (Hebrews 4:12 NLT)

I wanna issue a challenge. Will you commit to having your bible with you at all times. Not having one bible at home, one in the office, and one in the car, but making a conscience effort to take your bible with you wherever you go. We make sure that we have our phones, ipods, watches, and many other things with us at all times, will you commit to including your bible to your list? I wonder what will happen to us when God's word becomes a staple in our lives!

(Obviously you need to open up the Word, not just have it with you!)
